    Chakrata is almost 70kms from Mussoorie the queen of the hills.

    Chakrata is also an army cantonment area and is used by the Indian Army for training purpose due to this some parts of this town are restricted for civilians.

    The beautiful small town is surrounded by the rhododendron and oak trees forests and provides one of the best views of the Garhwal mountains in the region thus making it a perfect getaway for the tourists from their boring cubicle city life.

    What more to do at Chakrata?

    Tiger Fall It is one of the highest waterfall of the Garhwal probably 320 - 350 ft and can be reached via a small trek through the forest.

    Chilmiri Neck provides a panoramic view of Gadhwal Himalayan peaks and is an ideal spot for nature seekers and bird lovers alike.

    Lord Mahasu Temple and Lakhamandal Temple are some of the well known temples in the area. The village also has several natural caves.

    The Lakhmandal - Kalsi Trek is a moderate - easy trek for the trekking enthusiasts. It is a historical trek through the Jaunsar - Babar region in Chakrata

    The snow powdered hill slopes of Mundali ( 35 kms from Chakrata ) are apt for skiing for all kinds of skiers from beginners to professional. The ski slopes are available from mid - December to last of Febraury

    Kharamba peak is well known among nature lovers, trekkers, bird watchers and wild life enthusiasts. It is a surrounded by green lofty forests with amazing flora and fauna.

    Chakrata Uttarakhand is a part of Garhwal tourism, and the local languages spoken are Gadhwali and Hindi. Cotton and light woollens in summer and heavy woollens winter are advisable. The summer season extends from April to June. The winter season is from October to Febraury.

    The best time to visit Chakrata would be from Feb - April and September - October.
