Assan Barrage lies at the confluence of the river Yamuna and river Assan. These wetlands attract a lot of migratory birds during the winter season.
The birds make the wetlands their home out of which some are the Brahmini duck, Red crested poacher, Common teal, Tufted duck, swallows and a wide variety of other birds.
The barrage attracts a large number birds which include migratory birds and different birds of prey such as different varieties of eagles are found here thus making it a nature's paradise for bird lovers.
The barrage now provides boating facilities for tourists where the tourist can relax and spend some quality time with nature.
Assan Barrage is a part of Garhwal tourism, and the local languages spoken are Gadhwali and Hindi. The best time to visit Assan would be from February - March and September - November.
Cotton in summer and heavy woolens in winter are advisable. The summer season extends from March to September. The winter season is from October to Febraury.
