    Roopkund Trek

    Roopkund is a mysterious frozen mountain lake, in the Garhwal Himalayas of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand India. It is situated at an altitude of approximately 4500 meters above sea - level.

    Roopkund is a shallow lake of about 2 - 3 mts deep and lies in the lap of the Trishul Mountains surrounded by huge snow clad peaks of the Trishul, Nanda devi and Badrinath.

    The Roopkund Lake is snow covered all year long. In summers when the snow melts human skeletons remains of horses from paleolithic age can be seen on the surface. There is a lot of mystery behind the human skeletons which still remains unsolved.

    Roopkund is one of the most popular treks in Uttarakhand.

    The trek offers a mixture of difficult trekking routes, cold climate, beautiful landscapes and panoramic view makes it a dream of every trekking enthusiast come true.

    The trekking route passes through conifer forests and huge flat green grassy lands known as bugyals.

    Bedni Bugyal (flat green lands in the hills), on the way to Roopkund, attracts nature lovers around the world.

    The Roopkund trek also offers a magnificent view of the Badrinath and Trishul Peaks.

    Roopkund Trek is a group trekking tour. The Trek is medium altitude trek reaching an elevation of 5100m above sea level. Wan and Lohajung are the base camp for the trek.
    The Roopkund trek is a moderate grade trek and a total distance of approx 50 km is covered during the trek.

    Roopkund Trek Itinerary - 7 Nights - 8 Days

    Day 01: Delhi - Dehradun / Haridwar / Rishikesh ( 220 kms )

    Pick up from Delhi and travel toward Dehradun / Haridwar / Rishikesh. Later check in hotel.
    Dinner and Overnight at hotel

    Day 02: Dehradun / Haridwar / Rishikesh to Karnaprayag - Mundoli (240km) - 7 hrs drive

    Drive to Karnaprayag (173 kms - 6 to 7 hrs) . Lunch. From here we drive 70kms to reach Mundoli.
    Overnight in Mundoli.
    Overnight in tourist rest house / Village home stay.

    Day 03: Mundoli - ( 10kms drive ) Wan - ( 10kms trek ) Bedni Bugyal

    Next day drive to Wan, It is the base camp for the trek ahead.
    From Wan we have two routes to go ahead with one goes via Bedni Bugyal and the other routes goes via Ali Bugyal. The road via Ali Bugyal is a longer trek and requires an addition of one more day to the trek.
    We trek via the Bedni Bugyal route. This is a 10 km (5-6 hrs) trek to reach the Bedni Bugyal (3354 mts)
    Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

    Day 04: Bedni Bugyal - Bagu Basa

    After breakfast we start our trek ahead to Bagu Basa. We have to trek approx 10 km, taking about 4-5 hrs via Gairoli Patal. Rest.
    Dinner and overnight in tents..

    Day 05: Bagu Basa - ( 5kms ) Roopkund Lake - ( 5kms ) Bagu Basa

    After breakfast we today trek to reach Roopkund (4450 mts). The Roopkund lake is a mystery lake surrounded by huge snow covered peaks of the Trishul (7120 m) and Nandghungti (6310 m). We rest and explore the place. Later we trek back to Bagu Basa.
    Dinner and Overnight Stay in tents.

    Day 06: Bagu Basa - Wan.

    Today we trek 10kms towards Wan. This will take 3-4 hrs.
    Dinner and overnight in tents.

    Day 07: Wan - Karnaprayag - Dehradun

    Today, we drive back to Rudraprayag ( confluence of rivers Mandakini and Alaknanda ). Drive to Dehradun / Haridwar / Rishikesh .
    Overnight stay in hotel.

    Day 08: - Dehradun / Haridwar / Rishikesh - Delhi

    Drive towards Delhi and On Arr. Delhi, transfer to Railway Station / Airport.
