Uttarkashi district is situated in the garhwal region of Uttarakhand India at an altitude of 1200 mts above sea - level. The beautiful hill district was carved out of Tehri Garhwal in the year 1960. Uttarkashi is also known as the Kashi of the North.

One has to travel from Rishikesh - via - Narendra Nagar - Chamba - New Tehri - Dharasu - to Uttarkashi.
