    Rudrapur is also well known for the Nanak Matta dam. It is a beautiful and popular picnic spot. It has a beautiful lake and boating and fishing facilities are available here for the tourists.

    Rudrapur has Uttar Pradesh on the south and Nainital lies on the North of the town. Rudrapur has now developed into and industrial hub with the setting up of SIDCUL in the area.

    Rudrapur is around 240 km from Delhi and 250 kms from Dehradun. It is also is well connected by public buses and trains to major Indian cities. The best time to visit would be from April - June and September - October.

    Atariya Temple

    ( 2 kms ) The temple is dedicated to Goddess Atariya. Large number of devotees visit the shrine during the Navratri festivals.

    The Panch Mandir ( 2 kms ) also known as the Laxmi Narayan Temple is a beautiful temple dedicated to the Hindu Gods and Goddess. They are a group of 5 temples dedicated to different deities inside this temple complex. The Laxmi Narayan Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. It is a beautiful temple and and is a must visit during your visit here. It is flocked with devotees from far and wide during Janmastami festival.

    Nanak Matta

    The Nanak Matta Gurudwara ( 56 kms ) This is an important Sikh pilgrim centre. It lies on the Rudrapur - Tanakpur route. It is believed that Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru visited here. It is one of top three Sikh holy gurudwara after Hemkunt Sahib and Meeta Reetha Sahib in Uttarakhand. Thousands of pilgrims come here throughout the year.

    The dam built on river Saryu here forms the Nanak Sagar and is also a great picnic spot.

    The Lake Paradise lies on the Kiccha ByPass Road is an artificial lake and also a good picnic spot to spend with your family. It is usually flocked with locals during the holidays. You can find swimming pools here, with boating and entertainment areas. Good Place.

    Kashipur

    Kashipur is one of the four tehsils of the district. It is one of the important industrial town in the district. Snow capped peaks of the Trishul can be seen from here. Kashipur was founded during the time of Harshavardhan ( 606 - 647 ) AD . It was known as Govishan during that time. The ruins of the settlement can still be seen around the city.

    Rudrapur lies at an altitude of 219m above sea level.

    The population of Udham Singh Nagar district according to the 2011 census was 1,648,367 in which population of Rudrapur is 140,857; of which male are 74,040 and female are 66,817 respectively. The sex ratio of Rudrapur city is 902 per 1000 males. The average literacy rate of Rudrapur is 71.48 percent.

    Hindus form around 80 percent population of the people in Rudrapur and Hindi and Kumaoni and the major languages spoken by the people. Other languages spoken in the region are Urdu, Punjabi and English. People of all religion and culture and lifestyles live together in peace and close harmony with each other.

    Almost all Hindu festivals are celebrated here in Rudrapur. As it falls in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand Fuldeyi, Bikhauti, Harela, Ghee Sankranti, Khatarua, Holi Uttaraini are most celebrated throughout the region.
