Legendary belief of Kanatal

Surkhanda Devi Mandir is one of the many highlights of Kanatal. This temple is dedicated to Sati Devi. Legendary belief is that Lord Shiva carried Sati Devi's dead body from Haridwar and brought it here.

    One has to take a 2km trek to reach the Sati temple. The temple is the highest point of kanatal at at elevation of almost 10000 feet above sea level.

    The temple provides a spectacular view of the Gadhwal Himalayas. The temple is famous for its Ganga Dussehra fair in autumn.

    The other temples around here are Chandrabadni temple and Kunjapuri temple. They all together form the Devi Darshan triangle, which also offers ample trekking opportunities.

    This small hill station of Kanatal provides one of the best views of the Himalayas in the region and is also a perfect getaway from the boring cubicle city life.

    Kodia Jungle is an Oak and Pine dense green forest towards Chamba. The forest in an excellent place for leisure trek where many small wild animals and natural springs of pure cold water can be seen during the trek. The place is ideal location for bird watching and nature’s photography.
