Lakshmanjhula is a famous 450 feet long suspension bridge on the river Ganga in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand India
The suspension bridge is about 5kms from Rishikesh on the way to Badrinath. It was originally a jute rope bridge without pillars and was rebuilt with iron ropes in the year 1889.
Lakshmanjhula is believed that it was from here that Lakshman crossed the river Ganga on the jute bridge.
On the other side of the bridge is the Kailash Niketan Temple, Lakshman temple and the Raghunathji Temple. The Raghunathji Temple is dedicated to Lord Ram.
2kms towards rishikesh from the LakshmanJhula Bridge is an another overhead bridge the RamJhula Bridge between Shivanand Ashram and Swarga Ashram.
Lakshmanjhula in Rishikesh is a part of Garhwal tourism, and the local languages spoken are Gadhwali and Hindi. The best time to visit Lakshmanjhula would be from September - March.
