Govindghat is the gateway to Sikh holy yatra - The Hemkund Sahib, as well as the Valley of Flowers National Park. It lies at an altitude of 1800 mts above sea level in the Chamoli District of Uttarakhand India.
It is on the confluence of the alaknanda and the Lakshman ganga rivers.

Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib via Ghahgaria
The pilgrims have to take a very long and tiresome trek of about 19 kms from Govind Ghat - 13 kms Ghangaria - 6 kms steep and tough terrain trek to Hemkund Sahib. The last 3 kms of the trek are very tiring and tough.
Govindghat to Valley of Flowers National Park via Ghahgaria
The tourists have to trek of about 16 kms from Govind Ghat to the Valley of Flowers National Park - 13 kms to Ghangaria and then
to the valley is a gradual descent of about 3 - 4 kms to the valley.
The tourists as well as the pilgrims usually take a night halt at Ghahgaria during their visit here. Sufficient arrangement is available here at Ghangaria for the overnight halt.

Govindghat Uttarakhand is a part of Garhwal tourism , and the local languages spoken are Hindi and Garhwali. The best time to visit Govindghat would be from March - June and September - November.
Be careful of slippery roads if you are driving to Govindghat.
